“>Recognizing, dealing with, and preventing hate speech, antisemitism and racism is a growing concern for contemporary societies and communities. As brutalization in our society seems to increase in both the physical and digital world – the number of discriminating incidents related to hate speech, racism and antisemitism seems to grow accordingly. And this comes not only from private persons, but also from public persons, as we could currently see and hear. In this workshop, the students were asked to research on this topic, observe relevant societies and communities, and develop adequate concepts.
“>The participants were supplied with historical, societal, and methodical information through lectures, meetings and assignments. The starting point of the program was the exhibition and the resources of the POLIN Museum as well as Warsaw contemporary urban context. By working in interdisciplinary, international groups, the focus was on developing communication concepts for a chosen topic. Since the students had different backgrounds and interests, the seminar aimed to enable valuable insights by combining knowledge, cooperation, and creativity.
Concept solutions could be developed for a physical area / a presentation / a virtual space / educational material / a campaign in or for the POLIN Museum [possibly in connection to the existing permanent exhibition, especially it’s aspects of antisemitism] on the topic of racism today and its future perspectives – the outcome might be connected to the United Nations´ International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, 21th of March.
